Chocolate Mousse 2 Ways

Chocolatey, creamy, smooth… chocolate mousse has got it goin’ on. Here are two ways to crush that chocolate/creamy/dessert craving – one zero carb while the other is one net carb, both stupid simple, and both offer different textures. Either way, it’ll “stick to your ribs” to fend off any hunger pains. I use mousse often when fasting (before or after to drive up my fat numbers) or when my sweet tooth starts acting like a napless toddler. It’s good for breakfast, too… I’ve heard…

I believe how you like your mousse boils down to your first mousse experience. I was in elementary school when my mom was working for the now defunct weight loss center Formu3. As my mom would try different weight loss products and recipes (hey there, Skinny Dip soft serve, you sexy dairy-free beast), I got in on the taste testing. My first chocolate mousse was during this time and included a box of chocolate pudding stirred into a tub of whipped topping. It was very chocolately, crunchy, and thick. So maybe yours was in a four star restaurant whipped up by Louis LePue who trained in France while mine was this. Maybe I’m writing this while sipping some Cru and feeling a bit like melted chocolate myself… whatever… try these recipes and crush a craving. You’re welcome.

Chocolate Mousse #1
This recipe is more what I’m accustomed to – chocolatey and thick. No crunch, though, which I’ll miss but am totally okay with missing. If you opt for zero carb cream and a baking cocoa with a single net carb, this is pretty darn good for one lonely carb. This is by far my favorite version.

Ingredients
1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream (choose a brand like Land-o-Lakes with zero carbs)
4T Torani Sugar Free French Vanilla or Vanilla Bean Syrup
2t Baking Cocoa

Directions
Throw it in your bullet, let it run until it whips no more.
Grab a spoon.
Eat.

Chocolate Mousse #2
This recipe (can I call it that? there are only two ingredients) yields a zero carb, smooth and creamy mousse. I prefer the cocoa taste to the Torani taste here. But hey, do whatever your tastebuds like! I’ll be saving my chocolate Torani syrup for mocha bullet proof coffees.

As with all things, tweak it to work for your tastebuds because keto is not about icky food or deprivation. Also, read those labels to make sure you’re getting the lowest carbs available!

Keto on!
